Synopsis
“Una Mesa, Dos Mitades” is a short documentary that explores the creative dialogue that was established between Sara Regal and Pol Aregall during the creation of a unique piece for Galeria Vasto. The project arose from the commission from Mesura and the gallery, who asked Sara to design a piece of furniture using exclusively the remains generated during the renovation of the space, with the aim of minimizing waste and resignifying its value.
Director’s note
This approach inspired me deeply. The idea of transforming waste into something meaningful resonated not only in the final piece, but also in the way I approached the documentary. I decided that this project was an ideal opportunity to use almost forgotten audiovisual formats, such as super 8 and hi-8, as well as photographic techniques and visual styles that formally connected with the concept of reuse and resignification.
This experience was a constant exchange of ideas and emotions, which not only gave shape to the table – divided into two halves and conceived as a metaphor for the value of materiality – but also to the narrative of the documentary.
Beyond the physical result, this project was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of reusing materials and formats at a time when taking care of the environment is more necessary than ever. Exploring how to give new life to both waste and creative tools became the focus of this experience.
A thank you to all the teams and people who have participated in this project.
